On my recent detour from Surfers Paradise, we stopped for an overnight stay at Newell Hwy Caravan Park, which was conveniently located just a short drive from the charming Parkes Motor Museum and a local café serving delightful bites. While the caravan itself had its quirks—like a communal shower block about 100 meters away and an outdated cabin that could use an overhaul—the cleanliness of the facilities and the welcoming owner made up for some of the shortcomings. We weren’t expecting luxury, but we appreciated having a space to crash and an equipped kitchen, especially since we just needed a place to unwind after our travel. If you're looking for something basic and budget-friendly with easy access to local shops, Newell Hwy offers just that—it may not be a fancy resort, but it definitely served our purpose in a pinch!
